In the 1960s, \u003cstrong\u003eJørgen Gammelgaard\u003c\/strong\u003e was doing consultancy work for the UN in Samoa, where a single horizontal fluorescent tube was his only light source. To improve the quality of light, he tilted the tube 90° to a vertical position and fitted it with a series of plastic “shades” cut to diffuse the glow. The result — six stacked layers of off-white plastic creating a soft, warm atmosphere — became the now-iconic Tip-Top lamp.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis example is in good condition.
